Straight out of the gate, I’m going to tell y’all that watermelon is, hands down, my favorite fruit of all time. I could get all Forrest Gump on you and tell you the hundreds of different ways I love it prepared, but the truth is, I love it all. Freshly cut, grilled, in a salad, chopped over fish, in desserts, and yes, prepared for a juice, plus a ton of other ways. It’s so versatile and compliments dozens of other foods and preparations.
Perfect to enjoy on a hot summer’s afternoon after spending time in your garden.
I head out to my garden around 5:45 every morning. I water it, nurture it, and then I put on my knee pads and start weeding. I could be doing this task for hours, some days more than others. But, no matter how long I’m working outdoors and under the sun, my go-to favorite cold drink that cools me off and refreshens me is homemade watermelon limeade.
It’s bright and sweet and, well, yes, totally refreshing. It pays me back in vitamins that I’ve sweated out and worked off, and quenches my thirst like no other drink.
