Whenever the thought of sprucing up a kitchen is entertained, it’s always followed up by a bunch of dollar signs. I’m a bit dumbfounded when people throw out perfectly good cabinets just because they look outdated. Unless they’re falling apart, all these cabinets need is a facelift.
One of the solutions; sand the surface and paint them. A can of paint yields high impact, so why not start there. The only rules that apply are your own. Paint the top and bottom a different color; perhaps a lighter color on the top cabinets and a darker color on the bottom. When painting cabinets, take the doors off and remove the hardware. The original surface needs to be sanded off. No more polyurethane, no more wax. Sand it off. After sanding, wipe all of the dust off with a clean, damp cloth, and then they’re ready to paint.
While you’re giving your cabinets a facelift, up the ante and change the hardware. This is one of the best tricks of the trade in updating your cabinets all while putting a wad of cash back in to your wallet. Liberty Hardware is my go to for drawer pulls, cabinet knobs, cabinet hardware and switch plates. They have the most classy and timeless styles that will make your builder grade cabinets look like you spent thousands rather than very little. I can spend hours looking at all of their lines of product and imagining where each piece will go in my kitchen and around my house.
For our farmhouse kitchen, I went for crisp and clean, painting the cabinets white and light grey. The cabinet knobs I chose are bronze with a clear acrylic knob. They look so classy against the bran door style cabinets. You can find the cabinet knobs here.
The drawer pulls I chose are timeless. A farmhouse bin cup style in bronze that will look classic and classy in all kitchens, and the best part, they also come in 10 packs. You can find these drawer pulls here.
I say, take a load off and save your cabinets. Give them the facelift of all facelifts by brushing on fresh paint and attaching new and beautiful hardware from Liberty. And as you know, I’m all about saving money and saving money to me, is liberating.
