Decorating our Christmas trees is my very favorite thing to decorate for Christmas because it truly is a family affair.
True, I do really enjoy decorating our entire house for Christmas; I go around, take my time and do my thing. Christmas music cranked up in the background. But add Mac and Caroline in the mix, our two little Delightfuls, it’s not only a special time, but down-right hilarious.
Now that they both know how to read well, and spell, our go to “tricks” have been tossed out the window.
Every year, I buy an ornament for everyone, and of course I keep each one in an individual box, and label it. And what I loved this year was that Mac and Caroline each read what ornament was in each box, and rattled their memory before they opened it. And what made it so funny is their little comments and how they would make themselves laugh. Like the kind of laugh that comes from the belly. And then Sean and I would laugh too. And the night was special.
We decorated the tree in the living room first. We were really careful to hang the fragile ornaments higher up, to be safe from Hudson’s tail sweep.
Then we moved into the kitchen, and decorated that tree. The kitchen tree is a little more casual, and free spirited. Most of the ornaments that Mac and Caroline made are hung on the kitchen tree, and those ornaments of course, are closest to my heart.
And we can’t forget about little tree. Making it’s second appearance, I added greenery, some magnolia leaves, and bundles of cotton. Little Tree stands in our den, in all of it’s glory.
We are full of Christmas in this house. And I love it. Stay tuned – next week I am posting our Holiday Home Tour, and this is a post you will not want to miss!
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree…….
