A couple weeks ago, I cut my finger when I was chopping vegetables to oven roast. Luckily, the cut wasn’t deep enough for stitches, but it was enough to really hurt, and make a mess. I was hurried, and I threw good cutting form out the window. Not smart.
The proper technique to position your hand when chopping, the technique professional chefs use, is today’s Quick Tip Friday.
With the hand that is not holding the knife, you should cup your fingers such where the tips of your fingers should hold the item that you’re chopping. This way actually gives you a better grip on what you’re cutting, and keeps those tips out of the way. It feels a little awkward at first, but once you get used to it, there’s no going back.
Keep your eye on the knife, keep your tips down, and follow today’s Quick Tip Friday!
