Cue the campfire tunes, because this post is all about the treasured s’more.
We tend to eat s’mores year round around here, but in the summer months, making s’mores is almost a nightly occurrence.
That being said, those long grilling s’mores sticks are hard to store. They never stay in their spot; they scatter all over the floor or wherever you have them stored, bottom line, they get dirty.
Being that these sticks are a necessity around here because of s’mores eating frequency, I had to come up with a stick compartment.
My thought process took me waaaay back to my pre-school days when we made a yard stick holder for our mothers for Mother’s Day. And this same concept is what I did to make my compartment, and keep those sticks together, clean, and at the ready.
Simply take burlap upholstery trim, cut it to length, and hot glue the sides. Make a loop with a piece of ribbon, and you’re good to go. Hang it in the pantry or on a kitchen wall where everyone can reach.
Now making s’mores can get fancy. There’s all kinds of recipes out there with variances, but we make them with the tried and true 3 main ingredients.
I do get a little fancy with the chocolate. I buy the good stuff. By the pound. I cut it into chunks and I haven’t looked back.
Then, let the happiness begin. Good times around the fire, roasting those marshmallows.
And the finished product.
Clearly, not a crumb wasted. Pass some more s’mores, please!
