Looking back on this past year, I am humbled. As the year started out, I felt deep down that it was going to be “my year.” I had a lot of high expectations and I was completely optimistic that each and every one was going to be achieved. But that wasn’t necessarily the case.
I was so busy planning and doing, and setting the bar so high, that I wasn’t paying attention to the “now” I guess you would say, and I continuously got frustrated that what I wanted to happen, wasn’t happening.
But really, it was.
And as I was thinking about this post and reflecting on the past year, I realized that many things did work out. I didn’t see the events happening at the time because I had lost my focus of patience. And maybe too, I was fixated on my one main goal of the year and I over-looked the other things I achieved.
I achieved a lot, all with hard work. And of course, I am so grateful.
Ringing in 2015, I am going to follow true Southern traditions and today, and we are going to eat Black Eyed Peas, collard greens, and cornbread. These dishes are what Southerners believe to be good luck charms for wealth and prosperity for the year. And I’m all for that. Click here for the Black Eyed Peas and Chorizo Sausage recipe.
So, cheers to 2015. May the year bring you good health, good fortune, patience, humility, and true happiness. I’m excited to see what 2015 brings!
Happy New Year, my dear friends.
