Some years, all I want to serve on New Year’s Eve is a bunch of hearty hors d’oeuvres rather than fuss over a sit down dinner. Don’t think for a minute that you can’t make your hors d’oeuvres look as fancy and glamorous as a four course sit down meal.
You can and here’s how.
Let your New Year’s Eve table be the fairest of them all by using mirrors for a table runner. As I’ve mentioned, I love for New Year’s Eve to be all about sparkle and shine. By using mirror on your table, it brings all the refection and dazzle that you seek. Add some votive candles and spread some crystals and silver sequins and your table will have true radiance.
With all the texture, you need height. To add appetite to my cheese platter, I simply took a small glass shelf that I had on hand, and set it to rest over a few votive holders. Now, this infinity cheese platter added just the height and whimsy that I wanted.
No need to spend hours in the kitchen trying to create complicated hors d’oeuvres. This Sweet & Spicy Nut Mix is easy to make and your guests will be hooked.
Let your fish monger do the work for you and have them shuck raw oysters, reserved shells for you to serve. This Champagne Mignonette is sure to please.
To add to your cheese platter and oysters, keep your hearty menu simple with sliced smoked meats, flavored crackers, and olives.
With all of these hors d’oeuvres, and the glow of the mirrors, you will have the hearty balance and a sophisticated New Year’s Eve table to impress you and your guests.
