One of my traditions that I do every holiday season is to bake some festive bites to give away. Yes, of course, I eat plenty of what I make, as does Sean and the kids, but I really dedicate the time and attention to all of these tasty eats to the purpose of giving away. So today, I spent the day immersed in butter and sugar and chocolate. Throw in some Christmas music and I was happy as a clam, getting lost in my own little world of seasonal baking.
Of years past, I have made some of the same recipes, as I will again this year. But, also this year, I put thought, time and testing into a few new recipes that I want to share with you, starting with these Whoopie Pies.
Holla!
These Chocolate Peppermint Whoopie Pies are so good, that if I was coordinated enough, I would jump and click my ankles together. They’re made of a moist chocolate cake with a peppermint butter cream sandwiched in the middle. You can find the recipe here.
I shared the White Chocolate Bark with Dried Cranberries and Pistachios on the Christmas episode of Brooke’s House & Home. Well, we did eat all of that batch, so I made more today. A very detailed recipe can be found here. Yum-O!
As I have shared in the past, I have a bit of a cookie block. Can’t seem to make a successful batch – not sure what I’m doing wrong, but where I don’t go wrong is when the recipe consists mainly of only butter and sugar. These Christmas Shortbread Cookies are decadent and easy to make. Trust me when i say easy. Recipe found here.
Not to be outdone, the Chocolate Peppermint Bark easily nestles into the easy and delicious category. And, it’s pretty. A combination of bittersweet chocolate and milk chocolate accompanied by candy cane bits, this stuff is Ah-Mazing. And did I say easy? Well, it is. And my Christmas baking wouldn’t be complete without my Forgotten Kisses. I make them every single year. These white puffy clouds meringue take you on a magic carpet ride of deliciousness. Truly. Quick and easy to make, no one can have just one. Click here for the tried and true recipe.
If you’re planning on doing some holiday baking, I hope you’ll make some of these recipes. They’re quick, delicious, and everyone you make them for will love you for it. Trust me.
Here’s to sweet baking!
