How many times have you gone to use your sponge and it smells icky, even after only one use?
Obviously the sponge’s main purpose is to clean and wipe up spills, etc. All of that mixed with not rinsing it out well, and even not wringing it out after rinsing all causes quick growth of bacteria.
I have a couple tips to help you prolong the life of your sponge, and keep the bacteria at bay.
Enter today’s Quick Tip Friday.
My first tip is to microwave your sponge. Place your damp sponge in the microwave, and heat on high for 2 minutes. This will kill most disease-causing germs and bacteria. I recommend doing this every day or every other day.
My second tip is to simply place your sponge in your dishwasher with the rest of your dirty dishes, and set on the high heat. Then when the cycle is done, your sponge is clean.
A clean sponge is a clean kitchen.
