Now that the growing season is here, my herbs are growing like gangbusters. They’re growing so fast that I can barely keep up. So how can I cut them back without wasting a single leaf?
Enter today’s Quick Tip Friday.
The secret is in your microwave.
Yes, the microwave.
Just a minute in the microwave will preserve your fresh herbs, along with their flavor and their color. No chemicals needed.
Place a sprig or two in your microwave, and cook on high power.
Times may vary based on microwave power, so start off with 30 seconds on high. Then add in 15 second increments until herbs are dried.
Run your finger and your thumb along the stem, and crumble the dried leaves in your fingers. Store in a glass jar.
It’s that simple.
Enjoy today’s Quick Tip Friday!

What is the effect of the microwaves on the substance of the plant material? Is the smell or flavor altered in any way?
