“Modern Mix” Is A Decorator’s and Blogger’s Bible

Sure, we absolutely CAN pretend!

Do you ever feel that someone you have never met is your friend simply because you connect with their beautiful photos?  That’s how I feel about Eddie Ross.  Though I did meet him briefly at he and his partner,Jaithan’s estate sale earlier this spring.   I wrote about the estate sale of the year, here.

I have been a fan of Eddie Ross for while.  Every day, I look forward to seeing his Instagram posts of beautiful place settings, thrift store finds, and eye-catching flower bouquets that you can almost smell through the photos.

So you can only imagine that I was sitting on the front step, waiting patiently for our UPS driver to deliver my long-awaited copy of Eddie Ross’s book, Modern Mix.  Off the truck the driver hopped with my book, and a milkbone for Hudson.

And I almost hugged the man because I was so excited.

When I tore open the box, I was delighted to see that the bamboo attaché that I bought at the estate sale, and now have in my office, is on the back cover of the book.

The book is A-Mazing!  And inspiring.

He shows how the art of thrifting is fabulous, and with a little soap, polish and elbow grease, old treasures get a new life.

When I saw how Eddie shined up a huge brass tray he bought at a flea market, I pulled out one that I bought at my favorite salvage shop, and I now know exactly how to shine it up and give it new glory.

The photos in Modern Mix are gorgeous and I could spend hours looking at each page.  It is now my favorite book that I have in my library, and a treasure that will sit on my coffee table.  Certainly a book that I will reference regularly!
