Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Ain’t that the truth!
Though this winter hasn’t been too unbearably cold for extended periods of time around our parts, it doesn’t take much for our old house to feel drafty and for our heat to get sucked right out the window.
Slowly but surely, we are working on insulating our house, but I want to share with you one tip we have done that has actually helped to keep some of our heat indoors.
Enter today’s Quick Tip Friday.
Yes, we need to paint all of our radiators. And yes, they do look unsightly. But, in the grand scheme of things, who is really paying attention to that when there is an opportunity to save a little bank in the heat department. Efficiency first, lovely second.
No need to go any further than your pantry. Grab some of your tin foil, and place it behind the radiators or the heat registers. By doing this, the heat reflects back into the room rather than allowing it to escape through the walls. There is a foil made specifically for this purpose, but the kind you have in your pantry works just as well.
Believe me – I don’t write about anything I haven’t tried. I’ve tried it. It works.
Clever, yes. Unusual, absolutely.
This method doesn’t feel like you’ve walked into a sauna, but you can certainly tell a difference. And that’s all that matters when you’re trying to keep the heat indoors.
Enjoy today’s Quick Tip Friday!
