Spring is here, and now’s the time when people – well, some people – get the itch for doing some spring cleaning. While those of you who are breaking out dusters and swiffers, and doing your best to organize and reorganize, here is one appliance that is used daily, but the upkeep is sometimes forgotten about.
I’m talking the refrigerator. The inside of your fridge is one thing, but it’s the coils that are located below and behind that get forgotten. Out of sight, out of mind.
Enter today’s Quick Tip Friday.
I am one of those where my refrigerator coils aren’t ever-present in my mind, that is for certain. But now I have this task on my spring cleaning and fall cleaning list.
Here’s what happens when you don’t vacuum those bad boys:
Eww, yes. This folks, is reality, especially if you are a pet owner. Everyday dust, fibers and hair get trapped under the fridge and attach to the coils. When the coils are gunked up with all this stuff, the compressor won’t fun efficiently, causing your fridge to run constantly, hence using up more electricity. And too, if your fridge is running constantly, that could cause your compressor to burn out, and that is a huge expense and you could find yourself back at the store picking out a new refrigerator.
Vacuuming your coils sounds tedious, but really isn’t that big of a pain. Take off the grid in the front or back, wherever it is located on your fridge, and start vacuuming.
By vacuuming out the coils and underneath your fridge will end up saving you some cool cash in the end.
So, do like I did and suck it up!

Good idea!! I think many of us do clean the inside but not underneath as often. Good reminder.
