Weekday mornings are pretty harried around here. Wake up the Little Guy; make sure he’s showered, fed and out for the bus on time. Then, head back inside and start all over for the Little Miss.
Our family is no different than any one else’s. Though I cannot speak for your’s, when it comes to breakfast, our family, with the exception of myself, are chocaholics.
No lie.
Sean and the kids can eat chocolate 24/7; until the cows come home. But not me. I’m a lemon girl. Because of this, I’m ever determined to push this citrusy delight on them, and keep mornings down to one option rather than a couple.
As I love the combination of lemons and blueberries, bringing them together in the form of a scone sounded utterly delicious to me. I scoured my cookbooks and the internet for different recipes. I tried a few, ingredient by ingredient.
This is how I tweak. Take a little from each recipe, learn from what I feel needs improvement.
Develop my own.
After careful thought, and a dozen test tries later, I developed my version of Lemon Blueberry Scones. And dare I say..
Best. Recipe. Ever.
After trying these scones, Sean and the kids were willing to throw chocolate out the window. Perhaps temporarily, but their seal of approval is monumental. These scones were devoured by family and friends alike. I scored a hit!

I’ll vouch for the scones. Mary and I were visiting Brooke and her family when the scones appeared with my cup of coffee. It was delicious and I enjoyed the lemon taste. As a nightly fix I waited until everyone was asleep then ventured inbto the pantry late one evening for another scone. It tasted as good as the one I was served that morning. What we call in the south, "Grandma slappin’ good." Great job Brooke. Love, Daddy

As I was reading your post I was thinking to myself – let her be a lemon girl let her be a lemon girl – haha! And you are! 🙂 I like chocolates but I love lemon desserts. And I cannot wait to try your scones recipe.

Oh! Scones make me nervous … I’m not a great baker and they sound so elegant. But by gosh these are beautiful enough I may just jump in and try some this afternoon.

Noel, I’m just like you a way better cook then baker. Baking gets me nervous too. But these are so easy and well worth the attempt. Pretty funny, red is my favorite color also. Lol
