He’s done this to me thousands of times. Whenever I feel his hand on my shoulder, I know that valuable words of wisdom are about to come.
And I’m all ears.
So when I see his arm on Mac’s shoulder, I’m grateful, and I capture and hold this moment in my mind, and in my heart.
He calls me One. Always has. I’m his little one. His youngest. There’s not a specific time or place that he saves this name for me, but always. I remember being on the starting block at a swim meet, waiting for the start, and hearing his loud yell “LET’S GO ONE!!” That cheer would carry me, and I would inevitably swim a best time.
It’s his belief in me, his love and care, that has made me the mommy that I strive to be today. It’s the phone calls of suggestions, helpful tips, and the funny side notes that keep my imagination going. It’s his love of writing that has inspired me to be just like him and put my love of words on paper.
I’m blessed with wonderful parents, and today is all about my Daddy.
Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there!
Happy Father’s Day to you, Daddy. Thank you for all you have given to me, and continue to give. You are one of the reasons why I breathe.
All my love,
One
