Brooke’s Garden House Episode 4 Is Here, And This Show Is An Awesome One!
But really, EVERY episode is awesome!
Have you ever cried and laughed at the same time? Like, crying tears of joy, and laughing because you’re so happy? Or, maybe you’re laughing because you’re trying to cover up the fact that you’re crying? Whatever the reason, it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but please tell me this has happened to you.
Well, I’ve done a whole lotta that this week, working on the garden house. Stuff is getting done, and the Brooke is like, Heck Yeah!!! It’s surreal, really. On one hand I can’t believe something I have thought about and dreamed about for so many years, is finally being built. And then, my eyes are watering to the point where I was worried my contacts would float out, because, well, I’m so dang happy.
THIS WEEK WE MADE MAJOR PROGRESS ON THE GARDEN HOUSE BUILD!!
RTB was here working three days, and in those three days, we got the footings poured, the beams secured, studs were built and eight windows were fitted in.
We’re half way there until the roof goes on!
The dude can crank out the build. And thank goodness he knows his stuff. Sean was helping also, but we both were more like RTB’s Vanna White. We were there to help, and whenever he wanted to buy a vowel, we turned the letter.
And he’s pretty chill, which works out perfectly for a serious Type A like me.
It’s all the measuring and leveling that are so wicked tedious, but a must for the garden house to be built correctly. When building a structure, no matter how big or how small, measuring and leveling is a must. Yes, it takes a long time, but totally worth it in the end. The garden house is going to be level and secure and it will not budge. It’s going to be built solid.
Once all that measuring and leveling was complete, we were in business.
The Building Has Begun!
We poured the footings, which dried in no time. Then the next day, the framing began. Since each window’s measurement is different (so not kidding), each casing was built one by one. Puts a whole new spin on custom, that’s for sure.
But it was when that first window got fitting in, that I took a step back and almost lost my breath. Sounds utterly corny, but whatevs, I’m totally being honest.
Of course we had random kids and animals pay a visit and check out the progress, including one of the chickens that took a liking to RTB. She checked out the site a few times, walked around, clucked, and flew between the beams. I think RTB is getting used to such Fedigan oddities. Gotta just shrug my shoulders at this point.
