On this episode of Cook with Brooke, I’m celebrating parmesan cheese, showing you how to make parmesan crisps! A one ingredient easy recipe.
Parmesan cheese is a staple that I always have on hand in the fridge. I use it in so many recipes, and I always save and freeze the rinds to simmer in soups and sauces for added flavor. Sometimes I break off bite-sized chunks to add to a cheese plate, and one of my favorite ways to enjoy parmesan cheese is to make parmesan crisps.
Sounds fancy, right? Fancy yet super simple to make. The recipe calls for only the one ingredient, and who doesn’t love a recipe like that?! Parmesan crisps are a great accompaniment to many dishes; placed on top of any pasta dish; layered over a baked salmon and even on a Caesar salad. But our favorite way to enjoy these crisps is simply by themselves with a nice glass of red on the side.
No need to get all elaborate on the directions because there’s really no need. It’s like this: preheat the oven to 350˚, shred the cheese (I opted for the food processor for the speediness), spread small piles over a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, keeping an eye on things.
I made two batches, one using a silpat mat, and another using parchment paper, lining a baking sheet with each. Although both batches turned out great, I prefer the batch using the parchment paper as that method produced crispier crisps. I buy parchment paper in sheets, and these are the ones I prefer. A wise investment that you will use in all of your baking.
