We just completed our backyard patio makeover and I can’t believe we waited so long to build a pergola. We desperately needed to provide some shade to a space that wasn’t enjoyable to sit and enjoy because of the constant full sun overhead. We built the pergola in just a few hours and in the last hour, we built the DIY furniture. Imagine that, in just one hour, we built a sofa, two chairs and a coffee table with even a few minutes to spare. TOJAGrid builds the bases and it was up to us to buy the wood to put it all together.

In this case, I designed a living area on one side under the pergola, and a table and seating area under the other. A living area that held two hats – one for entertaining and one for lounging and relaxing. Our kind of patio.

DIY Furniture In Less Than An Hour

The base of the TOJAGrid furniture is strong, made of 12-gauge Canadian steel, coated in weather-resistant materials. So, this means that the furniture will hold up for the long term. No fading. No peeling paint from the weather. Looks good as new for the long haul. My kind of furniture.

Sleek and modern bringing in a classic design touch with the use of 4×4 wood beams as the foundation. The beams are custom cut to the desired size and then simply screwed in to the base. One by one with equal space in between.

I stained each beam “Early American” bringing in that warmth to the sleek of the black. Find the stain HERE! This color stain is my jam, and I’ve used it time and time again, so of course I would bring it to our back patio.

The TOJAGrid cushions are such high quality. They’re fade resistant, weather resistant and downright comfortable. You have a choice of many colors for the cushions. The color of our cushions is “charcoal.”

Rob-the-Builder was here helping with the build, and it couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Nor quickly. Like I mentioned above, the DIY furniture was built in less than an hour. I didn’t even have enough time to take some in progress photos.

I’ve built a lot of things in my life and have refinished double that. No single project has gone so smoothly nor effortlessly.
