Homemade hot chocolate is the bomb. I’m sharing the best homemade hot chocolate mix recipe you’ll ever try. Perfect for cold days of winter.
You know it’s funny – I like to pride myself in recipe testing. Create, taste, evaluate, then enhance. I love the process. However, when baking or working with chocolate molds come into play, it’s almost like I’d rather grow a hangnail.
Please don’t judge.
Thing is, I just don’t enjoy baking. I love to be in the kitchen, and cooking is definitely my solace. Truly. But the thought of baking just throws me into riggers.
Don’t get me wrong, on the off-chance that I do bake (like a pie or cheesecake), they turn out deliciously. However, sometimes when I do bake, it’s more like me picking up the phone and ordering a key lime pie from The Little Pie Company.
Sigh.
A couple months ago, I was working on my editorial calendar for Farmhouse 1820, and I decided to work on chocolate bombs. And, why not really. These things are so popular with young and old alike, and extra chocolate is…
well…
It’s the bomb!
So I started my research. I found ample websites that make these chocolate bombs where there were videos involved and the entire process looked so easy. Videos upon videos for my research pleasure. I thought for sure that this would be a shoe-in blog post for 1820.
To make a long story short, my chocolate bomb attempts ended up bombing. I did manage to get one or two that turned out “ok,” but the other dozen got tossed.
On the bright side, I did create an unbelievably delicious Hot Chocolate Mix recipe. Kid tested, husband approved. Certainly puts those Swiss mixes to shame. And, wicked easy to make. So why not make a batch to keep on hand for those cold, winter days.
Here’s the deal; it take a 1/3 cup of hot chocolate mix to one cup of hot milk, Heat the milk until small bubbles appear on the outside of the pan. Turn the heat off. Pour 1/3 cup of mix into a mug, then pour the hot milk over the mix and stir until mix is completely dissolved.
This might just be the best Hot Chocolate you’ve ever tried!!
