I have a thing about washing my hands. I wash them All. The. Time. I do. Even more so, if you can believe that, when I’m cooking. Although compulsive, I think that excessive hand washing while cooking is a good thing.
What I have found when I would mince garlic and dice onions, is that I couldn’t get the smell off my hands. I have seen those metal block thingies that you rub between your hands to help get the smell off in various cooking supply stores, but I couldn’t justify the cost for the use.
After cutting up some onions and garlic one day, I went to wash my hands and rubbed my hands on the faucet, to see if that would take away the smell. Presto! It worked. Like a charm.
Give it a shot. You’ll be happy you did!
