For the most part, I am very organized. Everything has a place in the house. The kitchen cabinets are well thought out, towels and sheets are neatly folded in the linen closet for easy grab and go. I even go so far as to board-fold my clothes, thanks to a long stint in retail.
But then you walk into the office. The one place that should always be kept in an orderly fashion.
Oy.
We let it go. Especially the office closet. Problem is, the amount of mail that we receive everyday, along with oodles of graded classwork that comes home from M & C’s schools, and really no “system” in place. And to make matters worst, whenever company comes over, we toss everything that’s loose on the desk and couch, into the closet. And it ended up looking like this:
Well aware of the problem, and equally frustrated, I waited until I just couldn’t take it anymore. I was trying to find something in the chaos, and I couldn’t.
My brain felt like these cords.
So I got to work, and let me tell you, this job; this project; this plan; took me three days to organize, and to come up with a good working system that everyone could, and hopefully will, adhere to.
I had piles everywhere. I even found this great old Oxford file cabinet at the Good Will to help me out. I cleaned it and painted it, and put it to use right away.
I brought out the handy P-touch, some new hanging file folders and started making labels and filing papers, invoices, paid bills, and miscellaneous whatevers.
It is a little embarrassing to air my chaotic pictures, but I feel it’s important because it is so easy to just let things go, and throw upkeep and organization by the way side. And it really bothered me that we had this one room that was just such a mess.
But not any more! It is clean. It is organized. And we have a system in place. And I must say, it feels pretty freeing.
And the icing on the cake, is that Be Fed Again is featured in the Poughkeepsie Jounal in their Best of Blogs section! To read the article, click here. I am very excited, as this is my first press feature! Good things are happening over here at Be Fed Again!
And for the record, I cut out the article, and filed it under “Press.”
