Waaaaaaay back when I was around 9 or 10, I had my first helping of homemade ice cream; more specifically, homemade peach ice cream. It was heavenly. Daddy made it and churned it in a louder-than-loud ice cream maker. From that point on, I’ve been hooked on homemade ice cream. You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream!
It’s no secret around here that I love to cook; heck, it’s a premise around my beloved blog, but one thing I love to make is ice cream. So, it’s no surprise that while I headed down to Georgia recently to visit my family and get a littleĀ southern fix, I turned to the Georgia peach for some homemade ice cream. My sister lives a couple blocks from a farm stand and it was there that I grabbed my ingredients.
My mission was all about the peach, and my goal was to make a deliciously creamy and peachy ice cream. Kind of like if some vanilla ice cream married a peach and started a family. After careful thought and a couple trials, my end result was an amazing homemade Peaches-n-Cream Ice Cream.
To me, summer isn’t summer without homemade ice cream. It’s about creating memories, taking a little time, and making some homemade ice cream using fresh summer ingredients. Since they’re in season, let’s celebrate the peach!
