Sunday Morning Joe – Auto Correct

Wallpaper - choices

I have a love / hate relationship with auto correct.  For those times when my spelling is questionable (often), if I spell the word kind-of along the right lines, then auto correct is my friend and spits out the correct spelling.  But it’s the times when I spell a word correctly, the word that I want to use, and auto correct changes the word to something out in left field. Nine times out of ten I don’t review my texts before I send (not smart) leaving the receiver utterly confused, and frustrating the heck out of me.

The other day, I was texting with my sister about picking out wallpaper in the foyer.  I looked through books and books of patterns and colors and being the over-thinker that I am, I’m finding myself questioning everything.  Texting her that I’m in a wallpaper conundrum, here is the failed auto correct version:

Me: Picking out wallpaper for the foyer has left me in an ice cream.

Her: Huh?  Ice cream?

Me:  Ice cream (I respelled conundrum again and it was auto corrected)

Me: Condominium (third attempt at spelling conundrum)

Her: I’m lost

Me: I’m trying to tell you that picking out wallpaper has me feeling overwhelmed.  I’m in a pickle.

Her:  Seeees, you’re talking about ice cream and pickles.  Should I be worried?

Me: Nevermind.

Could it be that the auto correct in my phone is an over-thinker just like me?  Trying to think ahead of what I’m trying to say and spitting out its best guess?  Filling in the gap of something unfamiliar with something more common?

Should I go ahead with floral on one wall and the thick stripe on the rest?  Or just go with the thick stripe throughout?  Please feel free to weigh in and auto correct.
