Entertaining

  • It’s been at least two years now. I saw a heavy duty cable spool wheel on the side of the road. Some new neighbors were moving in to a home that they built and it was sitting out by their curb. I drove by it a few times, thinking it would make for a good table – just like the one that we had in our backyard in Mississippi. I mentioned the cable spool to Sean once, maybe twice, never thinking that he would really help me bring it up the hill and into our backyard. However, on a hot summer’s night when he had a few friends over, and after quite a few beers, Sean and his buds rolled that bad boy up the hill and into our backyard.

I’m excited to show you how many ways I’ve repurposed it!

  • Give me an excuse, any excuse, to design a table setting and I’ll take it. I’m all in. I learned this from my sweet Mama. Days out of a holiday, she would set a gorgeous table, tweaking here and there along the way. I loved watching her and took in all of her advice and ideas just like a sponge. All of her joy in designing a pretty table setting rubbed off on me, and here I am, never letting a table lay naked. Always dressed with a modern mix of plates and linens, with lots of play on patterns. Sometimes the table is just on display; still, it’s decorated one way or another, with Mama deep in my heart.
