Sometimes, it’s all about the trash to treasure.
If I see a piece (or two) of furniture on the side of the road that someone is throwing out, I have been known to stop. Hey, if it’s in good shape and I see repurpose written all over it, then why not?!
And because of my love of refinishing and repurposing, my neighbors have even left some of their trashed out furniture on our driveway, in hopes that I will find a way to bring the piece back to life.
Thanks??
You see where this is going, right?

The other day, when I was driving Mac to gymnastics, these 4 chairs were sitting on the side of the road. I brought the car to a halt, almost giving the kids whiplash. I checked out the chairs, loaded them up, and off we went, back on our merry way.
I love a good chair project, as you know from this post and this post, and these chairs were no different.

Cleaned up, painted and new cushions put on, these chairs would be a nice addition to our kitchen table. And I’ve been wanting to give the current kitchen chairs a break anyway. So that’s what I did. I gave them the ole sand, prime, paint regimen. I made a template for the chair cushion and used the template to cut 4 seats out of scrap plywood that I had in the barn.

Using a large piece of 2 inch foam, I cut 4 seats out, and paired them each with a wood seat. I cut out fabric to size and stapled on to the seats.

Pretty comfy, if I do say so myself. And the fabric looks great with the new kitchen colors.

Not that that wasn’t planned or anything. 🙂
