I’ve moved around a lot in my life. I’ve lived in 5 states (3 of which start with the letter “M”), and I’ve adapted to each state’s cultures. And believe me, each state is unique in its own way. But of all the states, cities and towns that I have lived in, they all have had street lights on every street.
Except New York.
It’s dark up around our parts, and headlights are relied upon heavily. And not just car headlights.
Enter today’s Quick Tip Friday.
Since we don’t have a fence, and our pooch Hudson, with his dark coat, can roam freely, it gets very challenging to see or find him at night. Until we had the a-ha moment of sliding a headlight around his neck, which saved us time and gave us peace of mind.
We simply adjusted the strap to fit over Hudson’s head, turned the light on, and off he goes to do his business outside. We can look out and see where he is at night because of the headlight. And too, because he’s wearing this headlight, he’s been less prone to wander off.
The straps can be adjusted so they will fit any size dog, large or small. Do you have a big yard with no fence? Want a little extra insurance policy? Then strap your dog in a headlight. Sure beats strapping a GPS on the hound!

Oh wow, this is so handy! I have a dog too and a fairly large property. Our back porch light doesn’t light up the entire backyard so it is really hard to see him when it gets dark. Thanks for sharing this, I’m going to get one for mine now!
I’ve definitely done this before! I live in Alaska where it’s dark…a LOT! My dog is black. I also have a reflective vest for my dog because she’s kind of short and when we go running in the dark I worry about cars not being able to see her (even though she’s right at my side).
Good idea and much safer for both the dog and for anyone who might come upon the dog, be it on foot or in a vehicle!
We have one for our night walks. Super important for safety!
