The day has finally arrived for the Farmhouse 1820 complete kitchen makeover reveal! This project is on point and the video is FABULOUS!
When I sat down to write this post, I started thinking about all of the projects that we’ve completed here on our 1820. We’ve lived here just over 12 years now, and though we still have a lot of projects in the wings, we certainly have accomplished a lot. However, when I reflect on our kitchen and the transformations it’s been through, well, three is the magic number.
Our kitchen makeover is in collaboration with Lick Home. I’m honored to be named a Brand Ambassador for Lick, and our kitchen makeover is one of two full room makeovers I’ve been challenged with.Β
After we found our home and waited the nine months to close and move in, I filled a 3-ring binder with loads of tear sheets, fabric swatches, paint swatches, and personal notes of interior design ideas I wanted and hoped for each room. The kitchen section was the thickest.
Sage green and an ivory were the colors I landed on, with little to no artwork or decor on the walls. I pulled the tear sheets that I liked at the time, never evaluating or thinking through if I’d still love the palette years down the line.
Fast forward to now, a couple paint colors and a lot of interior design soul searching later, I’ve found my groove. I’ve figured out how to achieve high end design yet bring it down to a level that we can afford. A modest budget that looks anything but. Resourcefulness is key.
The more time I spend in our kitchen, the more I craved warm tones with, perhaps, a deep accent. British Traditional design was what I was going for, and I can tell you now, that I’m diggin’ it. I chose a deep blue, Blue 07 for the cabinets, and a warm, creamy white 05 for the walls and ceiling.
I’ve shared all of these details and more, in my kitchen makeover reveal video. You’ll be able to see the entire design, and hear all about my design process. I have no doubt that you’ll grab a few design ideas for you to implement in your own kitchen!

Another great video – it ended too soon! The tours you do of your Farmhouse are wonderful. Love that Lick White color, and saw that you used it on your woodwork. BTW – I love their packaging! Brilliant. No mess and so easy. I have a painting project and wondered – where do you buy Lick Paints?
Brooke Fedigan says
Hi Pam, Thank you so much!! Yes, Lick takes special care in keeping a very low carbon footprint! That is just another reason why I love the company so much. Lick just launched here in the US this past spring, and you can buy their products on their website that I hyperlinked in the post above, and I’ll also provide the link for you here!

Where do you find the paint you featured?

Hi Jill, I provided a hyper link to Lick’s website above in the post. You can also buy all Lick products here! It’s an amazing brand, and I cannot say enough good things about the paint!!

Loved your kitchen makeover! It is so cozy and warm. I have one question. Is your backsplash wallpaper or tile? It is beautiful. You didn’t talk about that. Enjoy your new kitchen!
Brooke Fedigan says
Hi Cheryl! You’re right, I’m sorry I didn’t talk about the backsplash tile! It’s gorgeous, and we completed that project a little over a year ago. The tile is a combination of marble, quartz and brass. I love the mixture of different stones coming together. Although the pattern is modern, the materials are classic and timeless. You can buy the tile here. And, if you’d like to read all about the tile project in our kitchen, you can find that here.
