New Year’s Eve goes down in my books as my favorite evening for entertaining. Some years I plan an elegant sit down dinner, but my preferred is to serve dazzling hors d’oeuvres. And too, I love to glam up the unexpected and make things sparkly and fabulous.
One wouldn’t think twice about tossing a less than pretty oyster shell. Not so fast. Giving these oyster shells a good soapy scrub and then a shiny coat of gold metallic spray paint, these little gems make the perfect coaster for a white chocolate truffle. Pennies on the dollar, if any pennies at all. Head to a local restaurant that serves oysters on the half shell and ask them to save the shells they would normally discard. Free to fab with the help of some gold paint.
