This past weekend, the sun finally came out after several days of rain, and we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and clean up and prep our garden for winter.
As you know, our first attempt at gardening proved prosperous, and gave us good reason to already be excited about planting next year. Our tomato plants were like that Energizer bunny, and kept going and going and going. We had tomatoes up until about a week ago, and I roasted, then froze the last of them.

But alas, it was time to dig up, and clean up, and prep our garden for the winter and even for next year. We pulled up all of the “finished” plants, and raked the garden beds well.

We added a little amount of compost to each bed, and raked it in. It is very good for your garden prep to rake in a little compost and let it settle in the ground over the winter. Even in the winter, the beds need good nutrients, and this technique certainly keeps you on track for a successful garden in the coming year.

It was a little sad to close up and say good bye for now to the garden. But, I am excited and already planning our crop for next year.
And now for our winner! Thank you to everyone who entered the rafflecopter, and for also helping me celebrate my first Blogiversary. The winner is chosen at random by the rafflecopter, and I am happy to announce that the winner is Christina!! Congratulations! Please be on the look out for my email!
Thanks again everyone for entering and following Be Fed Again! More give aways to come!
