And with a blink of an eye, the holiday season is here! Officially. Cue the jazz hands because I’m really excited to show you holiday decorating ideas and inspiration.

The first room I’m going to show you is our den. This year, I wanted everything to feel really magical. To me, lighting brings magic, so for our den I grabbed my inspiration from one of my favorite department stores, Saks Fifth Avenue.
When you walk into Saks, there are icicle lights hanging everywhere. Thousands of them, and it’s breathtaking. Certainly I could bring that sparkle to our den.

At first, I was trying to attach the lights to the ceiling with white electrical tape. But as I quickly found out, that no work-y. My solution was a staple gun, and it really worked like a champ. Yes, we will have hundreds of little holes in the ceiling, but they are small enough that a coat of paint will fill them.

I zig zagged my way over the ceiling, hanging the lights with very little drama. But when I turned on the lights at night, the brightness was blinding. I needed to put them on a dimmer. And of course, in our house, we don’t have a regular, small dimmer. We have one of these huge things. But it works.

And I was able to bring my inspiration from Saks to our den, on a much much smaller scale.

Lights really do bring magic, and walking into this room makes me feel so gleeful. It was an easy project that certainly packs a punch.
