As we said goodbye to summer and hello to fall, September eased us into the chilly weather. Cool nights and warm days are just right by me. The leaves are beginning to change, promising for a beautiful autumn.
With the kids back to school, and sports schedules to maneuver, I think I’ve figured out a good routine. And it’s all the hectic schedules that lead us to Keeping Fed.
As Sean and I shopped and shopped and shopped for the endless list of school supplies for the kids, we found this video to be so true and totally hilarious!
When I spent the day decorating our porches, I was only thinking design-wise. I completely spaced that we have a free-loading chipmunk living in our barn. Apparently, he loved the Indian corn that, at one time, looked nice on display. But that chipmunk grinched us out of every last kernel. #chipmunkiskeepingfed
Speaking of rodents, I’ve been in a “nesting” mode this month, and have been making various meals, and “squirreling” them away in the freezer. Among some of the things I have made, are these pot pies.
Sean’s best friend since forever opened a Burger Fi in Poughkeepsie. Awesome burgers, and the fries are so good, they should be illegal. Check out the menu here and put Burger Fi on your list of places to grab good grub.
Half Moon Theatre is a local theatre company here in Dutchess county, that Sean and I have supported for years. We are privileged to sit on the Honorary Committee for this inaugural event. Looking forward to a very fun and special evening!
Seems like September was the month according to the apple. We went apple picking here and here. I don’t think I could ever tire of apple cider donuts, and this place makes my favorite. And speaking of apple cider, let me share this amazing drink recipe with you again. To use a phrase from my daddy, it’s so good it’ll make you slap your grandma!
I hope you all enjoy the last few days of September. Thank you for Keeping Fed!
