December was beautiful around here.
And a blur.
There was hustle and bustle, and energy galore. Good eats, good drinks and parties, some more.
Still, no time for a slow down, but I will take a good power nap if the opportunity arises. January is brining new projects, and a few blog surprises.
Until then, let’s do some Keeping Fed!
Even on Christmas day, DIYers may not get time off. Between cooking some scrumpdelish food, and maneuvering loads of dishes, our kitchen drain clogged. We tried a little CPR with the plunger, and that no work-y. So Sean, still donned in his Christmas jammies, headed to the basement to fiddle around with that drain pipe. He used one of those metal snake things and presto. The clog was gone. And at that moment, as I was back to washing dishes and keeping up with things, I felt so grateful that we have mastered a few DIY skills. Skills that now seem on the easier side for us and allow us to fix things in a jiffy. Now if we could only “master” how to update and fix our yankee gutters…..
My Executive Producer for Brooke’s House & Home, Charlie Cornacchio, is so talented on many levels. He works wonders both in front of the camera and behind the camera. He’s a terrific video editor, a talented musician, and a beautiful writer. Charlie has written a MARVELOUS biographical book, penning his adoption story. Being completely honest with you, I could not put this book down until I was finished. I felt every emotion while reading Charlie’s book. From laughter to tears, frustration to sympathy, deep thoughts and a warm heart. This book is a must read!! I encourage everyone to read “How I Met My Mother…” It’s amazing. You can buy it here.
I’ve started gearing up for New Year’s Eve around here, and have been setting up the table in different ways, and tweaking the menu. I’ll be posting this week on how to have a glitz and glam New Year’s Eve party, and this photo is a sneak peek.
As you all know, Eddie Ross is a huge inspiration to me. I reference his book, Modern Mix, almost daily. After taking some time off to write his book, he is back to writing his blog, and I couldn’t be more jazzed. Click here to sign up!

Our back staircase needs a new runner STAT. This DIY tutorial has me confident that I can install the runner myself.
This door made my jaw drop.
Speaking of doors, somewhere in our house I would like to install a barn door. This how-to is a terrific reference!
One of my dear friends from high school is an amazing interior designer. Maja’s portfolio is beautiful, as is she. You can be Found by Maja here.
And one more for the road:
Starting January 1st, I’ll be joining many as I get back into an exercise routine. It’s this story that got me back in gear.
I hope everyone has been having a happy holiday season. Cheers to the new year.
Thanks for Keeping Fed!
