A couple weeks ago, my friends Dana, Theresa and I went to an unbelievable estate sale.
I’m talking best. estate. sale. ever!
Eddie Ross is a designer and is currently working for Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. He has an amazing eye for detail, and his taste level is impeccable. Eddie is an avid collector and gives very valuable advice on attending sales and flea markets, how to get the best bargains. I’m fascinated with everything he has to say. He posted about his estate sale on Instagram, twitter and FB, and from his very first post, Dana, Theresa and I were in.
After all, an hour’s drive is nothing to be able to shop Eddie Ross’ estate sale!
#noearlybirds was all over his posts, so we respected that. We arrived 10 minutes early thinking we would wait in line, only to find out we were late. Well, not technically. We saw lots of people leaving with their arms full of stuff. Good stuff. So we knew we were in for a good one.
When we were walking up to Eddie’s house, I spotted this bamboo etagere and bar cart. I love bamboo furniture and that etagere was a must for my office.
Inside, stuff was everywhere.
And totttaaaaallllllllyy organized. I mean, seriously!
It was hard to move because of the crowds, and everyone was either walking around with their jaws on the floor, or with their arms so full.
It was overwhelming yet so much fun!! And when I went to check out, Eddie was a delight. So patient with everyone and really happy. I’m telling you, if it were me, all those women rummaging through my stuff, interrupting me and yelling out questions, would have gotten on my last nerve. But not Eddie. He was in his element.
We loaded up my car, and got the etagere on top of my car and tied securely to the roof rack (which I always keep on my car in the off chance I find a log piece of drift wood, or attend the best estate sale of the year.).
I painted the etagere, and now it is home in my office.
And I also got this lovely bamboo chair that I will paint and make a new seat cushion for.
Hey Eddie, I need 7 more of these chairs for my dining room. Can you help me find them?

Love estate sales! Do you know The Vintage Girls out of Atlanta? They have sales nearly every weekend in the area, including Blue Ridge. Check them out at thevintagegirls.com. Perhaps your next "treasure" awaits your next trip down to your mom and dad’s.

Wow, that chair is gorgeous! It will look even more amazing when it’s all refinished. I’ve never heard of an estate sale before, but it sounds amazing. Might have to travel south!

I have a similar desk (sofa table but I use it as my desk under the stairs) that I bought at an estate for $12. (glass top included). I painted it white years ago but I’m ready for a change of color. Thanks for the inspiration, Mary Beth
