Brooke’s Garden House, Episode 6!

Brooke’s Garden House, Episode 6 is here, and each week, I am always excited to share the process. I’ve been getting so many positive comments, emails and phone calls telling me how much they’re enjoying watching, and that they look forward to each weekly episode. That totally fuels my own excitement! Y’all, I am so grateful!

This morning I caught myself staring out the window, admiring the garden house, and thinking about how far we’ve come. Building a structure like this is not a quick job. We’ve built this shed with windows, as Mac calls it, to withstand extreme weather. Ain’t no wolf that’ll be able to huff and puff and blow Brooke’s garden house down!!

We’ve Hit The Halfway Mark

In episode 5, we covered a lot of ground!

It’s now safe to say that we’ve hit the halfway mark in the build. The deadline I have earmarked is in just a couple weeks, so we’ve got to stay on par and focused. All of the windows need to be trimmed out; siding has to go on, the entryway needs to be built, and the list goes on. Our to-do list does seem a bit daunting, however I’m not the least bit stressed, but rather truly enjoying the entire process.

I started priming the inside this past week, a task I was not enjoying because of my freakish fear of heights. I kept telling myself that I needed to look fear in the face, and do my best to overcome, but that just wasn’t in the cards. Doing what I could, I had to pass the job over to Sean. We do have a long pole for the roller, but it’s the tedious work of cutting in with the brush that high up on the ladder comes into play. I’m thinking maybe I could tape the brush on a long pole and paint that way?? I’ll take any and all suggestions.

We’re Making Progress

RTB was on another job all of last week, so it was just Sean and I working. While I was carrying on and being all drama about heights, Sean framed the front and back gables. The small windows were placed framed in a well.

In really exciting news, a friend of ours has been watching the garden house series and reached out to us about the roof. Turns out, he had leftover shingles from roofing his barn, and asked if we were interested. It was perfect timing because we hadn’t yet bought any roofing materials yet, and these shingles are AMAZING! RTB was here on Saturday, and installed the roof and it looks awesome!

So the garden house is kinda dried in now. I say kinda only because the siding needs to go on and that will hopefully happen this week. Speaking of, RTB was at a job, adding an addition to an old house and scored a bunch of shiplap siding for the garden house. Will be perfect!! I started scraping and priming each board, hoping that will be a bit of a timesaver after the install? Well, I mainly did it to keep myself off the ladder.

I’ve gotta keep things honest here.

Time For Episode 6 of Brooke’s Garden House

We had a couple small mishaps this week, but it’s all good. It’s pouring rain today which will put us back one day. That just means we’ve gotta double up another day. So, keep on watching! Now it’s getting realllllly good!!
