We have two tweens in our family. One is organized, everything in its place, gets it done, and the other; well the other is the anthesis.
Our sweet Little Miss, Caroline, can create a heaping pile of clothes so high, I’m always amazed that it doesn’t topple over. She’s been known to leave a wrapper on the table, just to save the couple steps to the trash, and though she is an excellent student, she procrastinates doing her homework until the very last minute. In this day and age, we excuse this as working well under pressure. This is true, and pressure seems to deem productive for me as well.
In her defense, there was a rickety rolling rack in her closet that was meant to only be there temporarily, but six and a half years later, it was still there. Seeing better days, her clothes were crowded, and as she grew so did her clothes. The rolling rack got more and more unsteady and needed to retire.
Keeping up with my DIY Dutchess month-long series on organizing, I spared that rickety rolling rack and built the Little Miss a hanging system in her closet specifically designed for her needs. All in at just $30, she now has space for all of her hanging clothes. Hopefully, this new system will encourage her to hang up and put away her clothes and eliminate that heaping pile of clothes! One can hope, right?

PVC pipe. Do I have to get a plumbers license to do this. But really Brooke if it’s so simple would you mind coming to Wyoming and doing my closets. I’ll fix you a Bison Burger if you come out. Really thanks for the idea. Now I can take the bailing wire down from my son’s closet and use plumber’s friend (PVC).
