One of the last projects for our dining room remodel has been completed.
Well, almost. I’m still on the look out for four more bamboo chairs, but as I wait patiently, I have brought the six that I have back to life.
The best thing about bamboo chairs is that they are so versatile, and bring a bit of a modern vibe to a very traditional room.
I cut the broken caning out of the chairs, and sprayed them with a much needed coat of primer and a couple coats of black paint.
I made a pattern for the seat, traced the pattern on to plywood and cut with a jig saw. A three inch thick piece of foam was cut to the pattern, and I covered the cushions with the fabric that had me searching all over the world for. Literally.
As I mentioned in this post, I waited too long to buy the fabric, and I didn’t want to settle for any other pattern. I found tablecloths on Etsy in the exact fabric that I had originally picked out, and they were shipped to me from northern Europe. Though my patience was tried, it took me four months to find this fabric, and the resourcefulness and patience paid off. Lesson learned though – next time, when I find a fabric or wallpaper that I like, I will not wait.
With the pop of apple green in the fabric, these chairs pair perfectly with the apple green bar cart. A little pop of unexpected and it all works together with our harvest table.
I always love a good before and after story, don’t you?!
