I have a thing for mirrors. I would have them all over the place if I knew I could get away with it.
It’s not that I like to look at myself in the mirror. On the contrary!! What I love about mirrors is the light they reflect, and how much bigger they make a room feel.
When I am shopping around my favorite haunts and flea markets, mirrors always stop me in my tracks. Some are rather plain, so I bump over those, but more often than not, there are really cool-looking mirrors out there to be had. When I do stumble upon one, the wheels in my head start turning, trying to justify yet another mirror in our house, and where to put it.
Over a year ago when I was mulling around Bottle Shop Antiques, I found this mirror.

I loved that it was round. Loved the detail for sure. But I just didn’t know where I would put it. I thought about buying it and saving it, but I couldn’t really justify that either. The attic is pretty full of stuff. The barn, too. So I walked away.

Oddly enough, the thought of that mirror crossed my mind every day. I was wracking my brain trying to find a home for that mirror in our house. I would ask about it each time I visited Bottle Shop Antiques and each time, the mirror was still there, actually getting moved to their storage barn. And a year went by.
Fast forward to present, and the whole “Be Fed is taking over the ‘Christmas Tree’ room.”
Bingo, I now had a spot for that mirror!
I raced over, and the mirror was still there. I was meant to have this mirror! I scooped it up, and brought it home.
It’s original home was probably a department store. It’s cast from a mold, so it’s not real wood. But I don’t care.

I cleaned it up. Dry-brushed some white paint on to highlight the beautifully detailed frame.

And now it sits on the mantle in my office.

Of all the mirrors on our walls, this one is the fairest of them all.
