Do you ever wonder what draws people to you; what makes them want to see how you work, how you think, what you have to say?
I think about that from time to time, and what I found myself thinking a lot about this month was what drew so many birds to take up shop around our house. I wrote about how mama bird sent out a tweet, and another mama bird built a nest on our back porch. I’m starting to think that our old farmhouse has become the Audubon Society.
Seriously though, these birds feel comfortable around here. They have found a spot where they feel safe and away from predators. I’m honored, quite frankly. And to give you an update on the back porch mama bird, turns out she’s a robin and after she built her nest, 4 eggs appeared. Mama Robin is rather trusting, and stays in her nest even when we are watering plants near by. On Memorial Day I tried to close the curtains so she would be left alone, but she came after me and started freaking out. So I opened the curtains and kept a close eye on her nest. She did leave for the day, only to return when the lights were out and we were in bed.
Today, all of her eggs have hatched and periodically when Mama Robin is out looking for food, I see 4 little tiny beaks peeking out of the nest. It’s very sweet, actually.
But other than our home turning into the Audubon Society, lots of other good yet random things happened to bring you Keeping Fed.
On Mother’s Day, I got to walk about NYC by myself for a few hours. I went into Saks to look around and see what’s trending. This stiletto stopped me in my tracks.
I must have stared at it for 5 minutes. I thought about where in my life would this shoe work? Could I rock it while working on a DIY project? Or when I drive Mac to gymnastics? Thing is, this stiletto is so far from my life, and my age too. So, I went and bought a shoe that is much more me.
And in other random Keeping Fed news….
A few of our Broadway friends have started a show on YouTube called Broadway Boroughs. It’s a series on the day and the life of Broadway actors. Totally clever, wicked funny. Check it out here and subscribe!
I’ve always thought beekeeping would be pretty cool. Check out how my friend Wendi got started.
I love this idea!
I made this perfect aperitif. Delish.
And, I’m looking forward to visiting this Maine town next week. Meet me in ME.
Have a great weekend sweet friends, and thanks for Keeping Fed!
Ha ha! There was a time (when I was young) when I would have worn those shoes! These days I am much more of the flip flop kind of girl too!
