Spring is officially here, but here in the northeast, we still have another solid month before we start to see buds on the trees and flower gardens in full bloom. Not matter what the season though, I always try to have a beautiful flower arrangement in the house. Their bright colors ignite smiles on our faces and happy blooms lift our spirits.
I must admit to you all that although I always try to have an arrangement or two around, I don’t keep floral foam on hand, nor do I have a frog to aid in keeping flowers in place in the vase.
Instead, the secret aid is transparent tape. Professional florists have used tape for years, so if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for us creating gorgeous bouquets at home.
Simply take some transparent tape, and apply to the top of the vessel, making a grid pattern. The tape keeps the flowers in place and from flopping over. A quick, easy, and inexpensive way to design your floral arrangement.
For my Easter centerpiece, the cased glass basket that I have chosen is shallow, making it a little difficult to arrange the flowers. With the grid in place, I cut the tulips on the shorter side and started to arrange. By the time all of the tulips were in place, the tape was completely hidden. A little secret aid under those blooms.
No more flopping flowers. The secret aid in creating a beautiful floral centerpiece is transparent tape!
LOVE these bright blooms just in time for spring! It’s so gloomy in Chicago, and these are exactly what I needed! http://www.heartofchic.com
What a neat trick! I love fresh flowers and usually just stick them in a jar. I have a basket vase similar to yours that was my grandmother’s, but I didn’t know how to make the flowers stand up in it. I’ll try the tape method!
Thats the secret transparent tape, Now we all know.
This is a brilliant idea! I have to admit that I have done this before using a vase, but as it was a clear glass vase it didn’t quite have the same effect as yours – simply beautiful! xx
Beautiful! I just love flowers 🙂
Lovely! I never would have thought to use tape!!
This is gorgeous! Love that you are using the vintage vases!
This is really stunning.
Who would have thought? So simple… I will definitely try that out next time I buy flowers! I’ll share it in my Life Hacks board on Pinterest, so I won’t forget. 🙂
