KEEPING FED. RANDOM THOUGHTS ON THIS HOT AUGUST SATURDAY:
1.We found out that our schools will be starting initially online. I think I’m going to still have the kids shower, and put on their first day of school outfit so I can take pictures. They would probably much prefer to roll out of bed 5 minutes before starting and wear their jammies all day; maybe entertain a shower at some point. But, for the first day, I’d like to try and keep some sort of tradition. I might even load them in the car and drive them around the block so they can have a ride “to school.” I can already imagine the eye-rolls I’m going to get.
2. I’ve been working on updating my home tour on the blog because so much around here as been updated and enhanced. This week I have been staging our dining room for the photo shoot, and I can’t wait to share the entire home tour with you soon!
3. It was an exciting week on the blog. I got to share all about the garden house that is finally getting built, and the wall decor that is going to hang in there that I made out of antique garden tools. We satisfied our sweet tooth with an amazing dessert and enjoyed happy hour with this cocktail.
We have an Alexa in our kitchen. The other night Sean and I were sitting at the table visiting and she started blurting out “I don’t understand that. I don’t understand that.” We must have said something that resembled her name? From now on, I’ll just refer to her as Paige.
And while I’m on the subject of “Paige,” I was prepping dinner and telling Sean all about the errands I ran and how this one store didn’t have what I was looking for, AND THEN IT SHOWED UP IN ADS WHEN I WAS WATCHING YOUTUBE. I think that is so creepy. Paige may have to take a powder.
The brick wall in the dining room is bare and needs a piece of art. I was thinking of trying my hand at painting a canvas myself, but have you seen how pricey large blank canvases can be? I never thought to build one myself.

I have a slight obsession with chairs. I have more places to park myself around here than I know what to do with. I have paired down quite a bit, but need to do more. Check out all these clever ways to repurpose a chair.
Fabric covered pumpkins are everywhere, and I’m thinking about hopping on that train and making a few. Aren’t these so pretty!
The step by step is right here.
I have a couch and a chair that are in desperate need of reupholstery. I want to tackle these projects myself, and I’m going to follow this tutorial. Very helpful. It doesn’t appear to be as difficult as I thought. We’ll see, wish me luck.

I don’t have an Alexa but we have a smart tv. The random ad after a conversation has happened to us too. I’ve started turning off the tv when we aren’t watching so it’s not listening anymore.

Good idea!!!! It’s creepy how much technology “listens.”

Hi Jenny,
It’s almost creepy, right! How they seem to listen in. We’ve unplugged our Alexa for the time being.
