Is it just me, or does March seem like a realllllly long month? It almost seems like a confused month: one that keeps holding on to winter, and one that is itching for spring to arrive along with warmer temps. No leaves on the trees yet, but certainly the promise of buds. It’s this sight that gets me jazzed and after what seems like a year long winter, I’m ready to pump up the jam.
I’ve gotten a small start on my garden, sowing the leek seeds. The rest of the garden will be sown this week and every southern-facing window will be filled with garden trays until the threat of frost is behind us. The scant scent of dirt lingers inside for about a month, yet no one really seems to mind because we all know it’s a garden in the making. You can see the soil combo I use to sow seeds right here. I also forced daffodil bulbs to bloom in time for Mother’s Day. Here’s how.
We took on the laborious job of raking the pebble pathways in the garden to put down new anti-weed fabric, then raking the gravel back in place. I directed traffic while Sean did the heavy lifting. Worked out great for me; Sean on the other hand has been taking an epsom salt bath each night since. The paths look amazing though….
My garden house fully opened this month, and I’ve been puttering around in there setting up everything just so. I hosted a dear friend for Sancere and apps for a couple hours one Friday evening and as the sun went down, the timing proved just right for pre-spring entertaining. I find such pleasure in entertaining, and fingers crossed there will be more entertaining with more friends gathered in the weeks to come. I have filmed a spring tour of my garden house and I can’t wait to share that with you this coming week!
