Here at Farmhouse 1820, we (I) love to fill the house with greenery and arrangements throughout the holiday season. We have our tree, of course, but I make sure that every room has an arrangement or two, and this year I even tricked out the coop with some festive window boxes. Not to fret, all of these said arrangements took minimal time to create, and today I’m going to share with you how to create quick and easy holiday arrangements that are beautiful and on the cheap.
I start by shopping the yard. Heck, why not? That’s what those evergreens are there for. No evergreens in your yard? Ask a neighbor if you can cut a few branches. Total aside and quick admission, I do carry clippers in my car at all times, and I have been known to ask a building / shop owner if I can take a few clippings of a beautiful evergreen that I’ve spotted. They always say yes.
Hobby and craft stores have faux branches and berries on sale now for at least 50% off. Buy a few to add to your clippings. Pinecones, too, if you don’t have any laying around. It’s all about textures and variety. Pine, spruce, boxwood, holly, fa la la la la. Even spray painted sticks can come into play.
Choose a vase and / or vessel and start arranging. I like to keep the middle part of the arrangement on the taller scale, and then bring the sides out. Just keep filling, filling, filling. Add a few of those berries for color, and a pinecone or two for more texture. A little of this, a little of that; make sure you spread the varieties for that impact.
Each arrangement will take minimal time to create, and if you’re designing several, line up your vessels and work down the line. Easy breezy.
These quick and easy arrangements are beautiful way to bring more holiday spirit into your home. Also, one would make for a great hostess gift. With a thrifted vintage vase and those gorgeous greens, who wouldn’t want to receive that.
Happy Holidays!
