Every year when fall rolls around, I find myself in crunch time with projects. More often than not, my projects require some work to be done outside, whether I’m spray painting, sanding surfaces, or even stripping paint and polyurethane off furniture. All kinds of fumes and dust that are a bit harmful to do in doors.
My crunch feeling got put into high gear when we awoke to a temperature of 21 degrees on Monday morning. That below season temp has since gotten back with the program, thankfully. So I thought I would take a minute to show you the projects that I will be racing to complete within the next couple weeks.
As I am still working on the brick wall in the dining room, I’m happy to report that a light wash over the brick is the next and final step to that project. There has been a lot of working and waiting on this project simply because the mortar needs ample time to dry between tasks. It’s actually been a nice break, these drying times in between.
And as I work and wait on the brick wall, these chairs are being primed and painted. Cushions are being cut and upholstered, bringing these bamboo chairs back to life. I’m hoping to bring you this project by early next week.
You may have seen me walk by this table during my 49 Questions interview. I inherited this awesome teak table that was unfortunately painted an odd-dirty-pine-green color. Personally, I’m a huge fan of teak furniture and it’s beautiful grey patina that the wood achieves over time. I’m going to strip the paint off, and finish the wood with teak oil. It’s new home will be on our back patio.
I’m also going to refinish this gem. Sean’s Uncle John had an estate sale a couple weeks ago and I picked up this buffet for $25. It’s missing the drawers, but I actually like that. I’m going to cut the legs down, and refinish it the same way I refinished this table earlier this year. If all goes as planned, it will be a beautiful addition to our den, housing our cable box, dvd player, and will store movies, odds and ends, and our wii, all that currently look unsightly on top of a coffee table.
So I’ve got my work cut out for me as I race the season, and growing cooler fall temperatures.
Stay tuned as I will have lots to show you and talk about in the next couple weeks!
Those chairs are going to look amazing!
I love the buffet. The finished project is going to be amazing!
I am right there with you in rushing projects! We have a set up in the basement for projects to still get done during winter. Those chairs look amazing!
I’m in the same boat as you, except I have holiday projects piling up! I wish I could refurbish the furniture like you do, I can’t wait to see the finished product! The paneled tree picture is beautiful, I love how you can see the change of seasons in it!
