Gearing Up For The Fourth of July

It seems like Memorial Day was just last week and now we’re already gearing up for the Fourth of July.  Time does fly, which always seems to be the case, especially in the fun summer months.

It’s been a busy summer already.  School let out only just yesterday, and I have a couple big, time-consuming projects that I have been working on.  Here’s a sneak peek at one of them:

This shutter project is an intense one, so I decided yesterday to take a time-out and work on a couple fun little crafty projects to give myself a reprieve.

I had a bunch of these little flags that I had been saving for some unknown project, so I decided to finally put them to good use.

I grabbed a red tray that, yes, I had on hand, and I placed the flags to fit, then spray mounted them to the bottom of the tray.  Brushed a thin coat of polyurethane over the top of the flags so the flags would “weather” food and beverage rings a little better.

I know right?!  Total tray face lift.  Adding a couple vanilla milkshakes, and that’s like Botox for the tray.

But I still had a lot of those little flags left.  A flag banner came to mind.

I measured the space on the back porch where I wanted to hang the banner, and cut a piece of sisal twine the length that I needed, adding a foot to both sides so I can tie it around the poles. I ironed those little flags, and hot glued the twine to the flags, spacing the flags 2 inches apart.

And here it hangs, greeting friends to our back porch.

Two small and easy crafty DIY projects that gave me a nice reprieve from the big one.

Stay tuned!!
