One of my rules of thumb when decorating is that there can never be too many lamps in a room. I’m not saying to have so many that you end up squinting, but after all, lamps are functional accessories.
The way you light a room can completely change the space, and having multiple light sources can set the mood, ambiance, and how you use the space.
Cost can be a factor. With tons of inspiration out there, who says you can’t create the exact lamp and / or light fixture on your own, and have it look like one that you spent hundreds on?
Looking for a couple lamps to put on either side of Mac’s bed, I set out to create ones that I saw in a catelog that were priced waaayy out of my budget. Turns out, the process was an easy one, and one that even a DIY beginner can do!!
Check out the easy how to, here!!
All in at $42 a piece and about 15 minutes of my time, I saved myself hundreds, and they look like a million bucks.

I love DIYs because you can make your own decor without having to spend too much! I think this is awesome and it’s nice to be able to do something like this to add to your patio or backyard.
