Organization is a skill I flounder at achieving lately.
Believe it or not, there was a time in my life when everything had a place. Nothing out of place was a strict rule I had for myself.
Thennnnnnnn, I got married.
Had two kids.
Hit my 40’s.
My very structured ways started relaxing. Little by little, things were being left out of place. Now, I shutter to even say this, but a couple areas in our house are down right sloppy. Though I try to justify the mess as “hey, I’m human,” or “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em,” deep down the lack of organization drives me bonkers.
The other day, I spent 25 minutes looking for my hammer. A tool I use almost daily, I inevitably set it down in a place where it wasn’t even close to where it is usually kept. When I found it, I couldn’t even track my train of thought as to why I left it where I found it.
This tapped me out. Enough is enough. I needed to bring back the organization, or at least some of it, and design a system that is easy, fast, and brings value to the words time management. Organizing the tools I use daily was the first order of business and using pegboard was my solution.
A DIY project that took me less than 20 minutes to complete, and an organized system that will certainly save me hours.

Very good! My dad is very organized and has a pegboard like this in his garage. I’ll bet it would be a good idea for homeschoolers or in a craft room too.

So quick and so easy. Interestingly, I had a hammer just like yours and it ended up missing. It had been in our family for years. So my heart sank when you spent so much time looking for your hammer. I am so happy your tool now have a proper place. I;m off to go buy pegboard and set my tools just like you did. I love your blog.

Pegboard rules! However, someone who shall remain nameless, has trouble following the outlines on the pegboard to return tools to proper home. Hmmm, this must be why there are duplicates all over the garage…
