I’m not sure how many of you out there bring 1200 water balloons on vacation…
But we do.
We brought 1200 water balloons, and then some. We packed those water balloon pumps, and spigot attachments, and enamel and galvanized containers to house them in. Good Lord.
But I had a picture in my mind, and an event I wanted to see happen, and I packed all that stuff in my trusted car (AKA Beverly), and joined it all with beach stuff, and off to Newport we went.
There is a beautiful vacant lot next to the house we rent, and it truly is the perfect spot for a water balloon fight, among other things. So one night after we put the kids to bed, we stayed up into the wee hours of the morning, filling up and tying water balloons until we swore that arthritis had set into our hands. We filled two huge containers with the balloons, gearing up for a super fun and competitive water balloon fight, with the most breathtaking of all backgrounds. It was girls against boys at this dual, and it was summer fun at it’s finest.
And of all the hours it took Sean and I to fill and tie those water balloons, all had been thrown in a matter of minutes. But the fun that these kids had, and the smiles on their faces — well I wouldn’t trade that for the world.
Take a look at some of the fun..
A very special thank you to my friend Joy, for taking such amazing action shots.
Summer fun at its finest.
