Keeping Fed is a compilation of random thoughts of mine along with lots of inspiration I have found for you, from right here on this blog, and around the internet. Let’s get Fed!
Hello to you on this Fa-Reez-Ing Saturday morning. I swear, when I went outside to walk Gracie, I sniffed and my nose stuck together. Felt weird. temps like these are much too cold for the Brooke.
Yesterday was all about little pieces. Everything I opened or tried to do, came up in little pieces. Like when I was opening the top of a box of mac-n-cheese for the kids for lunch (please don’t judge), and I had to keep tearing open the top because it only came off in little pieces. Then, I went to peel a hardboiled egg and same thing with the shell; teeny tiny pieces, to the point where I was like, forget this, and I put the quarter-peeled egg into the scrap bowl for the chickens. Same thing happened on a starter roll of toilet paper, leaving little scraps of t.p. on the floor. Eyeroll. And lastly, when I went to wash my face before bed, the pump on my face soap spewed out little bits of soap, leaving me to take the pump off and pound the bottle on my hand to get out enough to use. Have you ever had a day like this, everything coming up little pieces?
Today, I’ve budgeted extra time for such nonsense, but I hope it’s all about the bigger picture.
January was a productive month around here! Two big projects were completed; installing a stair rug runner for one, and the kitchen got some serious new bling. I shared a couple smaller projects like building a butcher block table prototype, and I shared the easiest DIY ever. I did a little organizing (desperately needed), and I shared my duck sauce recipe, and trust me, you’ll never go back to the store bought stuff ever again.
In super exciting news….
I started a new bi-weekly series, Cook with Brooke! I’m having fun filming these videos and sharing the recipes! I’ve created a tab at the top of the blog for easy access.
The big game is coming up in a couple weeks. I always like to make an appetizer that pairs with the teams playing. For Kansas City, I need to research and test a few BBQ recipes to make. Do you have a good BBQ recipe that you can share with me?
I also thought I would make a platter of wings with this flavor and this flavor. I mean, let’s get serious. Football and wings go hand in hand.
And in other news and thoughts, here’s some more inspiration and tidbits I’d love to share…
Check out this cool painting DIY. So pretty and I’d love to do this somewhere around here.
I’m a big fan of a good board and batten project.
Love these wallpaper ideas.
Digging this tutorial.
I’d like to stencil the floor in the foyer. This step by step is a great reference.
A great project for me to tackle down the road.
Do you Taco Tuesday? We do. Feast your eyes on these tacos!!
One more for the road…
